Butchers Shop

R.M. Landers & Son is a family butchers shop in Whitby, North Yorkshire.

I wanted to paint this butchers shop to highlight the great style of some independent shops. I was struck by the font and the use of red contrasted against the white. The character of the building also adds to the charm of this wonderful butchers shop.

A lot of small independent shops have closed in the UK because they can't compete with the low prices of the big brands. Unfortunately we've lost a lot of great shops, replaced by bland corporate/global brands that are found everywhere.
